A tent, a stage, a microphone and 100 chairs, and all of a sudden we have a comedy club in the middle of our festival. Curated by The Last Laugh Comedy Club, Yorkshire’s longest running comedy club, we have the best acts on the UK circuit appearing between 1pm and 6pm. These really are the cream of the crop. So many people told us that they didn’t get to the comedy tent last year, don’t make the same mistake again!
Justin Moorhouse first appeared on our screens as Young Kenny in Phoenix Nights. Since then, he’s washed his tiger face off and become one of the best standup comedians working in the country today. You may have heard him on 5 Live’s Fighting Talk, seen him on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow or even caught one of his live shows at The Last Laugh in Sheffield, and if you have you’ll know that this is a show not to be missed.
Jo Caulfield was nominated as Best Comedian in the 2010 LAFTA Awards. She has graced stages all over the word bringing her wonderfully biting acerbic humour to audiences across the continents. As well as writing for the biggest in the business (Ruby Wax, Joan Rivers), she was Program Consultant on five series of So Graham Norton. She has appeared on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Have I Got News For You, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Mock The Week. The Observer called her “One of the finest female comedians at work”. Come and see what you think.
Jeff Innocent is an extremely experienced and popular stand-up comedian, actor, writer and cultural commentator. As a comedian he has appeared on British and international TV and radio and regularly performs in countries as diverse as India, Dubai, Japan, Norway and China to name but a few. Voted “Comedian’s Comedian” by the rest of the UK comedy industry, we know that you’ll love Jeff.
Jonny Awsum came to most people’s attention when he hit the screens of Britain’s Got Talent. Whilst he was wowing the audience with his antics with Ant & Dec, and getting David Williams to play the triangle, we’d known all along that he is an incredible talent. An old mate of The Last Laugh, we can’t wait to see him and his guitar based tomfoolery again.
Howard Read is an old friend of The Last Laugh Comedy Club, and we book him whenever his busy schedule allows it. An hilarious stand up, it’s his amazing child like qualities that bring the laughs, as he surprises you with his edgy wit. You’ll have seen him on the telly on one of his many appearances, maybe even caught him when he was on The Royal Variety Performance, but did you know this? He writes Dangermouse.
