Tony Hadley

As former lead singer of Spandau Ballet, Tony Hadley has performed on some of the biggest songs of all time.

Having dominated the charts throughout the 1980’s with smash hits including Gold, Through The Barricades, Lifeline, To Cut A Long Story Short, Only When You Leave and the worldwide number one True Tony Hadley is undoubtedly one of the most recognised voices in British music.

After Spandau Ballet, Tony ventured in to the world of theatre and attracted huge critical acclaim for his role as crooked lawyer Billy Flynn in the West End production of Chicago.

Having just released his 5th solo album, Talking To The Moon, Tony is still performing to huge sell-out audiences all over the globe.

Along with his own five-piece band Tony Hadley will perform a breathtaking finale to the third Wentworth Music Festival featuring all the classic songs we know and love.

Formed in 1994 Republica became a huge part of the Brit-Pop movement of the 1990’s.

There self-titled debut album reached the Top 5 in the UK and contained the iconIc anthem Ready To Go, which became a massive hit not only in Britain but also across the water in the US.

The follow-up single Drop Dead Gorgeous made the UK top 10 and during the Brit-Pop years there was hardly a week went by when Republica were not on the singles chart.

The band took a hiatus at the turn of the century and front-woman Saffron went on to collaborate with The Cure as well as with world famous producer JXL, but since reforming in 2008 Republica have proved they’ve still got what it takes to put on an incredible live show and we look forward to welcoming them to Wentworth 2019.

Doctor and the Medics

Formed in London in 1981 Doctor & The Medics became one of the most eye-catching acts of the 1980’s.

After releasing the ‘Happy But Twisted’ EP in 1985, produced by Andy Partridge of XTC, the band scored an international hit with Spirit In The Sky, peaking at Number 1 in the UK for several weeks.

Follow-up singles Burn and Waterloo, the latter featuring Roy Wood, saw them return to the UK singles chart and also achieve album chart success with their 1986 release Laughing At The Pieces.’

So memorable were their live performances that the group were invited to perform on a special edition of Top Of The Pops in 2006 to celebrate 50 years of the UK singles chart.

Still fronted by the original ‘Doctor,’ Clive Jackson, Doctor & The Medics are one of the most in demand festival bands in the UK so we are thrilled that they are bringing their unmissable show to Wentworth Music Festival in 2019.

Eliot Kennedy & Guests

Born and raised in Sheffield, Eliot Kennedy is one of the most successful British songwriters and producers, having provided hits for some of the biggest bands and artists of all time.

His first success came in 1993 when he was responsible for Lulu’s comeback to the charts after producing her Top 20 hit Independence. Shortly after that he found himself working with Take That and co-wrote, along with his best friend Gary Barlow, their huge number one Everything Changes.

In 1996 two girls from an up and coming girl group heard about Eliot Kennedy’s success and drove to Sheffield to track him down. After making contact with Eliot via the use of a Sheffield telephone book the girls, Geri Halliwell and Melanie Brown, then instructed their three band mates, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton and Victoria Adams to head to Sheffield so they could work with this guy on their debut album. They moved in to his house and within two weeks both Eliot Kennedy and all five members of The Spice Girls had written a batch of songs for their debut album Spice. Following the release of their first smash Wannabe it was a song by Eliot Kennedy, Say You’ll Be There, that they chose to release as the next single and that too went straight to number one.

If writing and producing for both the biggest boyband and girlband in history was not enough, it was then one of the most successful male solo artists of all time to benefit from Eliot’s songwriting talent, Bryan Adams. Eliot penned the hit single When You’re Gone which Bryan then recorded with Mel C, and introduction made by Eliot, and the song spent over a year on the UK singles chart!

Other huge artists that Eliot Kennedy has written for include Celine Dion, Aretha Franklin, Mary J Blige, Boyzone, S Club 7, Blue, 5ive, Delta Goodrem… The list goes on!

Eliot was also appointed by Simon Cowell as Artistic Director of The X-Factor, where his role would include coaching all the finalists before their live show performances. It was during Eliot’s year he coached and developed the group that went on to win that season, Little Mix, the first group to ever win The X-Factor.

Eliot Kennedy is a great friend of ours at Wentworth Music Festival and we are thrilled that he’s agreed to give a rare live performance of his biggest hits, along with one or two special guests, on what will be an incredible day to remember.

Soul Sensation

After making their UK festival debut at Wentworth, Soul Sensation are without doubt one of the most talked about acts from 2018 and the hugely positive reaction from the public that followed meant we just had to invite them back for 2019.

This incredible four-piece group perform their own unique versions of soul classics by the likes of Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Four Tops and Smokey Robinson as well as their own amazing compositions.

Frontman Cris Quammie was born in Jamaica and raised in the USA, where he first discovered the great soul artists and records that would inspire him to become a performer in his own right.

Cris’ vocal style is unique and not to be missed, so much so that celebrity fans of his voice include Lenny Kravitz and Motown supremo Berry Gordy.
